Instructions for fixing a Flag-board to a house wall
The most important thing to remember with a flag board is that the sign is slightly off-centre to allow for the post which will be attached to one edge. This means there is one end of the sign that is specifically designed to be attached to the post and we will have marked this for you.
Before you start we recommend and request painting your wooden post. Most people have some white paint in the shed or garage. We would suggest using emulsion, if available, as this dries much faster. A painted post looks professional and is much better than bare wood. Remember, you need to present your property at its best to achieve the highest sale price, and this starts with the For Sale board.
The sign is fixed to the post by sandwiching it between the post and the fixing strip. The fixing strip is pre-drilled and should therefore be used as a template for the holes that are required in the sign and post. Place the fixing strip over the sign along the fixing edge and, using a suitable pen, mark the sign for drilling through the holes in the fixing strip.

Remove the fixing strip and drill through the sign, ensuring there is either a space or a piece of scrap wood underneath.

Then use the holes in the sign to mark the post as follows. Secure the post on a workbench or on the ground and place the fixing edge of the sign along the uppermost part of the post such that the top of the sign aligns with the top of the post. Mark the points to drill through the holes in the sign. Drill the holes through the post, again ensuring there is either a space or piece of scrap wood underneath.
To fix the post to your house wall you will need to drill further holes through the other two faces of the post. Make sure these holes don't cross the two already drilled or the screws and bolts will clash. When you have drilled these mounting holes you should use them to mark a suitable position on your wall. It is not advisable to attach your sign to a house wall if the walls are rendered. Please also consider the height and position of the board such that it isn't possible for someone to inadvertantly walk into it. Use your masonry drill to drill two holes in your house wall and knock in the fixing plugs.
Using the three nuts and bolts and six washers you can now attach the sign to the post. Once this is done, us the three inch screws to attach the sign post to the wall.
